dbPride invites you to celebrate LGBTQ Pride Month as they welcome back Laverne Cox and CeCe McDonald for a conversation on their recent project, Free CeCe, a documentary which tells CeCe’s story. CeCe survived a brutal attack, only to be incarcerated for defending her life. After an international movement to free her, CeCe emerged as a leader to interrogate the prison industrial complex and inspire women to fight back when attacked.
The evening will kick off with a short highlights reel of the film before an important and timely discussion focused on the epidemic of violence against trans women, racial justice and criminal justice reform. Jac Gares, Director and Producer of the documentary will join the conversation which will be moderated by Tiq Milan, a trans activist, journalist and writer who focuses on intersectional leadership, transgender rights and racial justice.
